Build Wisely

An elderly carpenter was ready to retire. He told his employer-contractor of his plans to leave the house-building business and live a more leisurely life with his wife enjoying his extended family. He would miss the paycheck, but he needed to retire. They could get by.

The contractor was sorry to see his good worker go and asked if he could build just one more house as a personal favor.

The carpenter said yes, but in time it was easy to see that his heart was not in his work. He resorted to shoddy workmanship and used inferior materials. It was an unfortunate way to end a dedicated career.

When the carpenter finished his work, the employer came to inspect the house. He handed the front-door key to the carpenter.

“This is your house,” the employer said. “My gift to you.”

The carpenter was shocked! What a shame! If he had only known he was building his own house, he would have done it all so differently.

So it is with us. We build our lives, a day at a time, often putting less than our best into the building. Then with a shock, we realize we have to live in the house we have built.

If we could do it over, we’d do it much differently.

But we cannot go back.

You are the carpenter. Each day you hammer a nail, place a board, or erect a wall.

“Life is a do-it-yourself project,” someone has said.

Your attitudes and the choices you make today, build the “house” you live in tomorrow.

Build wisely!

Victory Affirmation by Deanna Spillman

I will not FLINCH in the face of sacrifice, HESITATE in the presence of procrastination, NEGOTIATE at the table of fear, PONDER at the pool of popularity, or MEANDER in the maze of mediocrity. I won’t Give Up, Shut up, let up, until I’ve stayed up, stored up, prayed up, and paid up, and become the person that God intended me to be. What I think about, I bring about, look out and have no doubt, when I am COMMITTED that’s when I stand out from mediocrity.

I will let nobody push my buttons

I will let nobody rain on my parade

I will go over, I will go under

I will go around and I will go through

Any obstacle that comes my way!!

Because I am highly motivated

Truly dedicated

and

Extremely successful!

YES!

Random Acts of Kindness

I’m a firm believer in Random Acts of Kindness. The things you do, come back to you - tenfold! This applies to both good and bad things, so beware. You will get ahead by helping others get ahead. Pay the toll for the car behind you, or maybe put some spare change in the parking meter for the car parked in front of you. It doesn’t even have to involve money. Sometimes all you need to do is smile. Visit the link above, they’ve got some great information there.

Ten Thoughts to Keep You Focused, courtesy of Sandy Fritz

1) Life is a “do it yourself” thing.
2) We are not paid for what we know; we are paid for what we do!
3) Someday is NOT a day of the week.
4) It’s not what you think you are that holds you back, it’s what you think
you aren’t.
5) The best is always kept on life’s top shelf, so we must reach up to get it.
6) According to Ladies Home Journal, the #1 regret of North American
women is not having fulfilled their dreams.
7) Learn from all the best, and copy none.
8) The hardest part of faith is the last half-hour, because if we give up in those
last few minutes we miss our day of glory.
9) The strongest demonstration of leadership is to be up when you are down.
10) You can’t expect too much too soon if you are going to do too little too
late.

It’s the repetition of affirmations that leads to belief. And once that belief becomes a deep conviction, things begin to happen.  – Claude M. Bristol
